The three wine-growing regions of Slovenia

Viticulture and wine production have a tradition of more than 2,300 years in the territory of present-day Slovenia. The geographical location has enabled this economic activity and a special culture in three different wine-growing regions, Podravje, Posavje and Primorska, over centuries of historical development, which has resulted in a diversity of terroir and also of varietal composition with numerous original (autochthonous) and regional varieties.
